Dementia Prevention

Reducing risk for the most affected

Lancet2024.png

Dementia is a global epidemic with significant social, economic, and health impacts. The global cost of dementia is US$1 trillion annually, and an estimated 153 million people will have dementia by 2050.

However, nearly half of the dementia cases are preventable. People from minority ethnic and socially disadvantaged backgrounds are at highest risk. Dr. Esther Hui's current research with Prof. Gill Livingston, who leads the Lancet standing Commission on dementia, focuses on reducing the risk of dementia in these individuals.
