Dr. Esther Hui

Researcher | Psychologist | Dementia Expert

Dr. Esther Hui is a Senior Research Fellow and a Chartered Psychologist at UCL. She is dedicated to developing new treatments for dementia and exploring ways to prevent the condition.

She is currently addressing equity and access to dementia prevention, in the Division of Psychiatry, UCL.  She co-leads the Advanced Treatment and Management of Dementia masters module at UCL and advises companies on developing digital interventions as a consultant. She was previously awarded an NIHR/Alzheimer's Society ("DEM-COMM") postdoctoral fellowship, where she served as the national representative on the NIHR ARC management board for dementia postdoctoral fellows.

After double-majoring in psychology and biology during her undergraduate degree and working in the U.S. and Hong Kong healthcare industries, she developed a research interest in dementia.

During her PhD at UCL Division of Psychology and Language Sciences, she adapted individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) for virtual delivery and evaluated it in a feasibility randomized controlled trial with people with dementia in the UK and in a case series in Hong Kong.
